I'm heading up north next week and you never know, we might just catch the very arse end of the annual mayfly hatch. Or at least the 'prey image' of the big ephemerids should still be fresh in the minds of the native trout. Cue a bit of frantic tying tonight....and a hurried refreshing of the memory when it comes to techniques such as palmering and ragging out seals fur to within an inch of its life. Hopefully these amateurishly assembled concoctions of olive and brown tied on size 10 hooks will just about pass muster if the fish are looking for an Ephemera shaped meal.
